Studio 2 titled construction focusing on exploring 3D computational modelling techniques to generate innovative tectonics and analyse the generated information for construction sequence and method. The brief of the studio was taken from the competition titled "Portugal Olive Oil Guest House". To summarize, the brief requires designers to design a guest house for a family-owned olive oil bussiness The Verdé to house their visitors. The design must have a tasting room for visitors and a cellar for storage.
In this collaborative project, I was responsible for the computational design of the tectonic and the overall design of the project. I was also responsible for the visualizations of the projects including renders and diagrams
The design concept started with a courtyard house design typology but adding a twist by having an artificial structure which resembles the courtyard. The house geometry was split to create the "house chunk" and the " experience chunk". While the house chunk is quite self-explanatory, the experience chunk is a place where patrons could take part in the journey of olive oil making and appreciate the products from the family. The experience ended at the tasting space that looks out the central outdoor courtyard that naturally forms by the massing.
